Before adding disks on a host zone, you must check to be sure that sd.conf is correctly configured. sd.conf specifies the number of SCSI targets that are visible from the host. If you have a greater number of SCSI storage devices than the default number in sd.conf, you must edit the file to accommodate all your storage devices. The default number of targets is 15, because SCSI can support only 15 storage devices in addition to the host adapter. However, Fibre Channel can support a much larger number of disks. See your vendor documentation for details.
Note: You need to specify a larger number of targets than you have disks in the host zone to account for local SCSI disks. For example, if you have 30 disks in the host zone, you need at least 31 targets in sd.conf because theremay be a local SCSI disk in the host itself. If a target has more than one LUN, you must list each LUN.
After adding disks to a host zone, you must check the host’s ability to see the disks, using the drvconfig and format commands. (After SANPoint Control is installed, you can use the Fabric Zoning tool or Array Management tool to do this automatically.) If you can see all of the LUNs, the disks have been added successfully. If not, try rebooting the host and use format again. See your vendor documentation for details.
