Individual Drive - Degraded Path
What Caused the Problem?
The specified drive channel is experiencing intermittent errors along the path to a single or several drives. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.
Important Notes
You must contact your technical support representative to correct this failure. DO NOT attempt to fix it yourself.
If a Loss Of Path Redundancy failure is also being reported in the Summary area of the Recovery Guru, you MUST fix this failure first; otherwise, you could lose both paths to the drives.
DO NOT select Recheck until you have consulted with your technical support representative.
Correct this failure as soon as possible. The drives are still operational, but a level of path redundancy may be lost. If the other channel to any of these affected drives fails, the drives themselves could be failed.
Recovery Steps
1
Check the Summary area of the Recovery Guru to see if there are any additional problems being reported. If there are other problems reported, fix those problems first before going to step 2.
2
Select View>>Storage Subsystem Profile from the Subsystem Management Window (AMW). Then, select Save As to save the profile to an appropriate directory and file (use a file extension of .txt). Close the storage subsystem profile window.
3
Important: DO NOT reset the read link status diagnostics baseline before saving the current data.
Select Storage Subsystem>>Run Read Link Status Diagnostics from the AMW. Then, select Save As to save the diagnostic data to an appropriate directory and file (use a file extension of .csv). Close the read link status diagnostics window.
4
Select View>>Event Log.
Make sure that the "View only critical events" is not checked.
Record the total number of events displayed in the lower left-hand corner of the event log.
Enter the total number of events in the "Retrieve most recent events" field and select Update.
Select Select All and then Save As to save the events to an appropriate directory and file (use a file extension of .log).
Close the event log window.
5
Contact your technical support representative and indicate that a "Individual Drive - Degraded Path" problem is being reported. Send your representative the three files you saved in steps 2, 3, and 4.
